There are usually lots of options open for late or slow payments. I have helped my disabled buddy out of jams MANY, MANY times by dealing with the mortgage company for him. You have to know what your talking about. There are terms and such for dealings with mortgage companies. You can go interest only for a few months, which is you don't pay any principle only interest for a set amount of time, this usually saves some cash for a short period of time but I have NEVER dealt with a mortgage company that flat out would not negotiate. My buddy has the worst credit I have ever seen and his payment record to his mortgage is worse but we've always been able to deal. You may want to think about refinancing with another company. If the value is in the house and you haven't second mortgaged it yet, it should be a snap even with bad credit. Lemme know if I can help, I'm kinda the wanna be credit guru. I've rebuilt many of my friends credit reports. Takes lots of time but eventually comes together.
